Hermit Crab Decor: A Review
Happy
Monday everyone! Today, I was hoping to provide some reviews of a few different
items that are commonly found in a Hermit Crab tank. I myself am owner to two adorable little
fellas, and have used quite a few products for them. One is their coconut hut, a little hut that
is shaped like half of a coconut with an opening in the front acting like a
door (pictured below). This hut is my crabs’ absolute
favorite place to be in their tank.
Hermit crabs enjoy being in darker places, especially if they are
frightened, and this coconut hut is a perfect escape for them. Really any kind of hut is something they
like. The only downfall of this hut is
that it has a very smooth outside, so it makes it difficult for the crabs to
climb, but somehow one of them has made it up to the top a couple of
times! One of a hermit crab’s favorite pastime
is climbing. It’s important to have
plenty of items that your little crawling friend can climb around. I also have a driftwood archway that they
love to climb across, it turns the little hermit crabs into acrobats! Hermit
crabs also enjoy having wood to chew on, so having wooden objects are
definitely great to have in a hermit crab enclosure. The archway I have is the perfect size to fit
snugly in the enclosure while still allowing plenty of room for the crabs to
climb under. The only downfall to have a
wooden object in the enclosure is that they can begin to mold if you mist your
tank often, so be sure to take the driftwood out before you spray!
