Wet vs. Dry Dog Food
One decision that many dog owners go through with
their pets is determining the diet to give their furry friend. The dilemma exists as to whether an owner wants
to feed their dog dry or wet dog food.
Each type of food has both its benefits and drawbacks, and there really
is not a right answer to the question.
However, depending on your pet, there may be one that is better for you. Wet dog food, for example, contains higher
amounts of water than dry dog food. If
your dog does not drink as much water as they should, wet dog food could be the
right choice for you in order to ensure that your dog is getting the necessary
hydration. Wet dog food also has a
stronger scent and flavor than dry dog food, which can be beneficial for an
older or sick dog that does not have as strong of senses as they used to. One drawback to wet dog food, however, is the
mess that it can create when your furry friend decides to eat. It also has much of a shorter shelf life than
dry dog food, therefore does not last as long.
Additionally, wet dog food is usually more expensive than dry dog
food. Dry dog food is very convenient
for storage and feeding. Since dry dog
food does not perish as easily, it can be left out during the day for your dog
to eat as he/she pleases. Dry dog food
is also easier to store and usually sold at a cheaper price than wet dog
food. Additionally, dry dog food can be
formulated to help clean your furry friend’s teeth as they chew.
