From Rags to Riches (In Smiles)

Good morning everyone! It is a gloomy day today where I am writing from, so I thought I would share a bit of inspiration for you all to brighten the day up.  I always come across stories on Facebook or just online about stray or abandoned dogs that have been found by loving humans who have cleaned them up and given them forever homes.  There is one pup, however, who went above and beyond this with his family and I just had to share his story. 

Rizzy is a 5-year-old mutt who did not have the best start to his life.  He was found as a puppy abandoned in a field out in the middle of nowhere.  He was rail thin from lack of food and water, and was covered in fleas and had matted fur.  Luckily, two explorers found him curled up under a bush and took him home.  They gave Rizzy a nice long bath and shave, and got the proper medication to help heal any wounds and bug bites he had.  They took him into the vet to ensure he was receiving the right treatment for his health and bought him a shiny new collar and adopted him as their own, giving him the name Rizzy.  Rizzy was the happiest a good boy could be, but his owners took things a step further to help spread his love around.

Today, Rizzy is a trained emotional support animal and is brought to children’s hospitals around his home to allow sick kids to read to him and play.  Every room he runs into is immediately brightened by the huge smile on the child’s face, and he helps that child forget that they are in a hospital for a period of time.  The kids that he visits look forward to his weekly play time and love spending time with Rizzy.  This just goes to show that no matter how a pup may have been treated in the past, they always have a good heart inside of them and know just how to bring joy to those around them!
